Garden Centre Chemicals Training for Retailers

CPADeveloped by the Crop Protection Association and accredited by Warwickshire College, this one day workshop provides an ideal introduction into the garden sundries product area for garden retail staff.

The workshop will deliver the knowledge retail staff need to deliver excellent customer service, based on an understanding of the products being sold and their ability to give the correct advice on their safe and effective use. 

The Certificate of Competence is assessed by a short written test at the end of the workshop. The workshop will cover the following areas:

Definition of terms, development, safe and effective use
Pesticides – Legislation
Legislation, labelling and storage 
Insect and Pest Problems
Diagnosis of problems, advising customers
Fungal Problems
Diagnosis of problems, advising customers
Weed Problems
Weed types, weed control
Lawncare
Overview of lawncare products, advising customers
Fertilisers
Plant nutrients, overview of fertiliser products 
Soils and Growing Media
Soils, composts and related products
Integrated garden care
Combining chemical pest control with other techniques
