The HTA Tree and Hedging Group

This group is made up of growers supplying the tree and hedge transplant market for rural and forestry planting as well as trees and hedging for the amenity market.

The group, currently chaired by Helen Richardson of Forestart, was formerly known as the Forest Nursery Group and is involved in a number of activities:

Business Seminars and Study Tours
The group has run seminars on improving profitability, new legislation and grant schemes.  The group has also hosted a machinery day and run study tours to progressive nurseries and factories in the UK, Germany and Denmark.

Policy
The group is represented on the European Forest Nursery Association (EFNA) by Jamie Dewhurst (J & A Growers) and is in regular contact with the Forestry Commission and Plant Health authorities.  The group responds to relevant Government consultations particularly in relation to grant schemes and plant health.

AGM
The AGM is held annually when members come together to discuss the issues facing the industry and how to tackle them.

Research and Development
The group is actively engaged in influencing R&D for the sector through the HTA Technical Committee and links to the HDC. 

Group Communication
