The John Innes Manufacturers Association
The JIMA, currently chaired by Jamie Robinson of Westland, comprises the 7 manufacturers of John Innes loam- based composts entitled to use the JIMA Seal of Approval®Currently there are 7 manufacturers of John Innes loam-based composts registered to use the JIMA Seal of Approval® that denotes their composts are produced in accordance with the JIMA quality control procedures and specifications resulting in a product that is currently more than 40% peat free.
The objectives of the Association are:
• To represent and promote the interests of the specialist John Innes growing media producers in the UK and Ireland
• To be the source of sound advice on the use of John Innes compost mixes to trade and consumers
• To ensure, through regular auditing processes and analysis, the manufacturers are producing John Innes mixtures to a standard that matches the original formulae from 70 years ago.
