Following prelonged rainfall in England over the past three months, all seven water companies have officially announced that their hosepipe bans will be lifted from Thursday, 14th June 2012.

The HTA do encourage all in these regions to still use water efficiently and wisely.

The HTA are delighted that water companies exempted drip irrigation watering systems this time around.

We have published the HTA response to each water company below, and we encourage HTA members to write to their local water company in support of our position.

The latest information from the Environment Agency on the drought situation in England and Wales can be found here and the details to contact your local water company are listed here.

For the benefit of members, the HTA has created Information Sheets to explain how temporary bans affect their businesses:

Temporary Bans on Water Uses - Retailers

Temporary Bans on Water Uses – Growers

Temporary bans apply to certain domestic uses of a hosepipe.  They do not apply to retailers or professional growers.  They also do not prohibit gardening.  You should encourage your customers to continue to care for their garden, but to use water sensibly.
